    Default Natural Wonders #17.

Continuing the series with a flight from Eugene to Klamath Falls in Oregon using a Piper Archer.

    Preparing to leave Eugene.

Take off abeam Fern Ridge Reservoir.

    Over Springfield leaving Eugene behind.

Still climbing over Dexter Reservoir and Lookout Point Reservoir.

Flying over Oakridge, in The Cascade Range.

Crescent Lake is where my flight plan takes me on to a Southerly heading.

First view of Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the USA formed when the volcano Mount Mazama erupted, leaving a caldera ovber 2000 feet deep.

The lake is unique in that it has no supplying rivers or streams, the deep clear water is purely melt and is amongst the purest water bodies in North America.

A couple of real world shots of Crater Lake, thanks to Google Images.

the rest of the flight to follow................

    Descending towards Upper Klamath Lake.

Mount McLaughlin at over 9300ft appears between the clouds.

At the South end of Klamath Lake.

    Downwind leg at Klamath Falls.

    Final approach.

    Down we come.

    Parked up.

A look back after exiting the Archer.

    Thanks for looking
    Brian.

    Great post Brian. Wonderful shots.
The pilot is bound only by his mind and his machine. We must expand the mind before we expand the machine, and by expanding the mind, we may expand the machine. Our mind is being expanded by the sim. It is not a game.

Excellent set Brian,Crater Lake really is a beauty and very cold year round!
One of my favorite routes when I drove truck was highway 97 north out of Klamath Falls to highway 58 west and that took you out to Interstate 5 at Eugene and then north to Portland or Seattle! One of the most scenic drives in the States.
