Thread: Pitching deck carrier landings

    Default Pitching deck carrier landings

Landing a 777 at KLAX is so overrated! Why not instead land F/A-18's at night onto an aircraft carrier with a deck pitching 30 feet! And then there's the side to side pitching, with the knowledge that the nearest divert field is 700 miles away, so your choices are, land that sucker on the carrier or ditch the plane in the ocean! Sounds great to me! One guy sounded like he wanted to quit after that, I'll have to listen to it again.

    Hope you enjoy these videos:

Some years ago at an air show I met some F14 Top Gun instructors, their friends at Miramar (while the Navy was still there) flew in the movie Top Gun. They kept repeating the phrase "You can't pay me enough to land on a carrier at night!"

Anyone know what is the most definitive aircraft carrier package addon? Can you simulate all of these factors in flight simulator?

I use the Accel carriers combined with Aicarriers2, but it doesn't do pitching/rolling etc. of course. One day I might get round to writing a simconnect addon that makes the carriers pitch and roll too....

Likewise - I'm sure I couldn't do that. Just like the bomb disposal guys - you couldn't pay me enough to do their job either...
I fly through the valley of death, but I fear no evil, for I am at 80,000 feet and climbing. Let's powerdive and scare that poor soul in that Ultralight there.

Keep us posted Jevans. Thanks for the tips.

My dialup internet connection for the past couple days has been stop and go, someone broke a fiber optic cable in Oregon, darn Oregonininians! Probably involved a monster truck tearing up someone's front yard, so typical of the Oregon natives!! Maniacs! Had to wait about 4 hours to send this post. I hope it's fixed

    Default Fiber Tap

This is homeland security's favorite 'excuse' when they are going to 'wire tap' your phone and/or your ISP connection. It don't take long (20 sec's). It's the tracing backwards to YOUR house that takes the longest. Ask me how I know. When you have a telephone guy come over to 'replace' or 'remove' a 'FILTER' (wink-wink) then you'll know. Just thought you might want to know. So all your money in them 'Foreign' accounts are in peril. Cheers?

Anyway, that was a great mini-series. I spent 3 years on a carrier, heck of a lot of fun, glad its over. I like to fly 'Pacific Fighters' and 'Wings over Vietnam' for the carrier ops.
