    Question wingtip vortices wrong location

    Hi everyone,

    I'm a newbee, as well in fs, as in this forum. And my english could be better. So please excuse me in case of errors. I was looking around on several forums, just to get a little help, without succes until now. Here's my problem :
    most of my planes have these beautiful wingtip vortices installed, wich add some reality on take-off/landings. I've installed them by myself ( which is obvious, since they are not in default aircrafts in fs9, booo Mr Gates!!!) Most of them are working fine, exept for 2 or 3 models. Impossible to adjust their position. The best I could get, (with the help of the added list in the - excellent - autoenvironment add on ) was vortices located at about 3 ft under the wingtips, isn't that ridiculous?
    All help will be very welcome

    Hi Avechelice,
    Thanks a lot for this tip, it all works fine, this feature is great and pretty self-explanating, even for non-english people. Exept for 1 plane (IFDG Airbus 318 - Easyjet) who seems tho have a will on his (her?) own ( the navred/navgre are interverted and stay that way, whatever I try to change) I think I'll go to pousuit another one.
    Have a good day.

    Hello,

    IFDG Airbus 318
    If you have problems with this plane .. you can allways try the Project Airbus A318
    Those a great planes.
    Unfortunately .. they don't have the Easyjet livery for the 318 !

    BTW I just checked the IFDG A318 and seen nothing abnormal.
    Can you elaborate more what you want change on this plane.
    Maybe I can help.

    Hello Avechelice,
    That's very kind of you, I like the British Airways' livery, too. I found another A319 Easyjet that works well. Just for the record: see the lights on the A318, the navgre should be on the right wing, no? And the navred on the left, ok? Well, impossible to change. But that's ok, don't waste your time on this.
    Another problem: you see this wingtip vortices on the beautiful Boeing 787 - House colours? In the foto taken from Aircraftcontainermanager, you can see they are in the right place, than you have the foto taken in the game, with these same vortices quit far under the wingtips. What am I doing wrong?
    PS I'm trying to upload the fotos, don't know if it will work.

    Hello,

    Just put them more high (with the help of ACM) and made some try
    Must be related to the model.
    So they will be in the "air" in ACM and on the good place on the plane in game
    Note:
    The problem can be also related to "wingflex"
    If wingflex is enabled in the model .. the vortices must be also linked to wingflex in the model.. and this is impossible to change (edit)
    Only the author is able to edit the model.
    AFAIK

    Regards.

    Hello,
    Yes, Ihave been trying this, before my previous post, without succes. So it must be something like you supposed to be, related to the model.
    But it's ok, I just "rip them out", I suppose, one can live without vortices.
    Thanks anyway for your help, this ACM should be very helpful in the future.

  9. Default Wingtip vortices

    You can just use a different effect that is supplied in the package. The problem is that in FS8 and FS9 (and maybe FSX, haven't tried it) there is a bug with the vertical location parameter for locating the smokesystem FX files (the ones used for the vortices) so that it doesn't matter what you set it at, the effect doesn't move vertically. (This is the '0' value in the example below). This is why there is a variety of vortex FX files supplied, because each file has a vertical offset value included that changes the vortex height, since the actual FS smokesystem parameters won't.

    So for example if you are using

    [SMOKESYSTEM]
    //Wing tip vortices
    smoke.0=0, -34.25, -97.00, Vortex4
    smoke.1=0, -34.25, 97.00, Vortex4

    which is the file I have on my CamSim 787s, then if you want the effect to be higher, replace 'vortex4' with 'vortex5', 'vortex6' and so on until you hit on one that's in the correct place for you. The increasing numbers move the effect upwards. This is possibly the easiest way to get around this vertical location bug.

    If you still can't get the effect in the right place, this would mean editing the FX file, which is not a big issue, but daunting if you haven't done it before. Let me know.

    Hi,
    This is perfect, vortex6 it will be (I should have known, but I tought that the increasing numbers had something to do with the size of the effect)
    So thanks for this tip, I am a happy pilot now!!!
    Just one more thing: does your camsim 787 tend to turn to the right on the runway, when taking of? And if yes, is there any fix possible in the aircraft.cfg or so? Thanks again.
