Thread: Please help!

  1. Question Please help!

Hi can someone help me what might have gone wrong?

We are using Windows Xp professional, I tried to follow the "Video Driver Installation Guide" on top, using a drivers sweeper, because I want to install a program for a 3d glasses but before that I have to install some nvidia driver, then i do so. After I was finish I could not start FSX and some kind of error appeared, that's why we go to a computer shop and they said we should install the GeForce 7 series and everything would be fine, but it did not help at all.

We go to a fsx club here in Norway and they take a look at the computer and said that, we have to reinstall the whole FSX. Okay, then we did that but after the re-installation we still can't open FSX we get this msg:

    "Fsx.exe - Application Error"
The instruction at "0x200ef382" referenced memory at "0x0175c928".
The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terminate the program

I tried to re-install it again and again but just come out the same.

Windows XP does not support 3D. Nor does a 7 series video card support 3D. You can check what is required for 3D here.

As for your problem, I suggest you download the latest video drivers from Nvidia that support your version of Windows and your 7 series video card. As of this writing, that would be version 195.62.
Then, follow again my instructions pinned at the top of this forum to remove your current video drivers and install the new ones. Those instructions, by the way, have been used extensively and are 100% reliable if followed exactly as presented.

Once you get the new drivers installed, check your system by running other applications and games to be sure it is running normally.

With your system thoroughly checked out, try running FSX. If it still does not run, insert your FSX Disc #1 and try the repair function. If that does not help, insert your FSX Disc #1 and select the uninstall option. Once it has run through the uninstall process, reboot, insert your FSX Disc #1 and select install.

    Thanks, I'll try it.

  4. Unhappy It still won't open

    Hi! @noell

Thanks for the instruction and if I said so myself, I think I followed it correctly this time. But exact same error come up after I repair and reinstall FSX.
I'm wondering if there's something to do with the software I installed before I find your instructions and the right driver. I'm thinking maybe it's one theme of both is the one that stop FSX to open. Here are their names:

    61.77_win2kxp_international
    &
    91.31_forceware_3dstereo

Actually I'm thinking of uninstalling theme but when I look in the control panel I can't that names.

Hope you can help me. Thanks
