    Default Used CPU

    Would it be a problem to buy a 1 year old CPU from a private person? I understand the guarantee aspects.

    If they haven't overclocked it, it should basically be the same as a new one. If it has been overclocked, then it will depend on how hard they pushed it. I've bought used ones before for secondary systems and they work just fine (granted these aren't being used for anything demanding).

    I have to say that I've been running different computers for about 20 years now and have on occasions bought (or scrounged) second hand CPUs and overclocked them too. In all those years, I've never had one pack up. Same can't be said for the odd PSU and Mobo though.
