Thread: Why did Silverback Cargo stubborn not to park?

    Default Why did Silverback Cargo stubborn not to park?

    It drove me crazy. I couldn't figure it out for half hour to edit and double checked aircraft.cfg and AFCAD.

    AFCAD shows "CARGO" Airline_code=VRB I put "VRB" on the cargo spot.

    I checked aircraft.cfg

    [fltsim.1]

    sim=DC-8-62_AI_model

    description=Douglas DC-8 Super 63 AI model. By Dee Waldron.
    atc_parking_codes=VRB
    atc_parking_types=CARGO

    [fltsim.2]

    I see VRB and CARGO there. The Silverback Cargo DC-8 parked at AIRLINE GATE TERMINAL. There is an EMPTY CARGO RAMP no aircraft cargo over there! What stubborn DC-8 doing this? How could I tell DC-8 should park "CARGO" not to park airline gate? I checked AFCAD there is no word CARGO spot in the temrinal area none of them.

    Why?

    Stuart

    PS-

    Cargo spot radius is LARGE 177 meters.

    As an experiment, try moving the parking spots (in the afcad listing of them) either to the very top of the list or to the very bottom.

    This can be done by selecting Lists and then Parking on the AFCAD screen. Just highlite and drag the entries to change their order.

    I for one would love to know if this helps or not.

    Edit Added: Also be sure those Cargo spots are actually connected to the taxiway system - the Afcad fault finder should spot a problem if by chance they are not.

    I do not know if this will make a difference, but 177 meters is HUGE

    Maybe you have unchecked the "Metric Parking Radius" box in Afcad>Tools>Options?

    177 feet would be big, but probably OK. If you are using Metric , try something like 50 meters. 177 might not work.

    I agree with Bean -

    The default Cargo radius is only 50 meters.

    To determine what size your Cargo aircraft requires, just use the Aircraft Editor option under Tools in the AFCAD program.

    Scroll down to the aircraft in question - a screen will display will a lot of information regarding that aircraft - including it's radius in meters.

    Make your Cargo spot(s) that large or perhaps a meter or two larger. No need to "super-size" them.

    Also, in case you had not discovered it, you can change the working measurments used in the AFACD - under the Tools/Options menu. I prefer to work in Meters but you can also select feet.

    I see Ethiopian Cargo same spot cargo a few times a different times. Later at different hours, Silverback was park in terminal area. I already put code ETHC, VRB, and SOO all of them are ramp cargo spots. Taxiways are connected link fine. It was nice scenery HAAB I don't know who made it from. I got something downloaded from flightsim or AVsim. I always checked fault finder afcad if is it working right before I start run FS2004 everytime I installed most of time AFCAD errors by author made a mistake very common.

    I will try smaller radius size 147 feets to see if works or not.

    Thanks,

    Stuart

    Why 147 meters that is still far too large. I just looked (using the Aircraft Editor I recommended) at all my aircraft and the largest radius I could spot was only 42.

    Did you try re-ordering the parking spaces yet?

    That's an afcad look like this.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...-jan-1-006.jpg

    DC8 silverback still stubborn parked airline ramp area look other airline cargo plane park is fine.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...-jan-1-007.jpg

    Southern 747 parked fine and see Silverback DC8 parked terminal ramp.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...-jan-1-009.jpg

    MD11F Ethiopian and Southern 747 parked fine.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...-jan-1-010.jpg

    Different time all are fine Cargo planes parked and airlines parked terminal area.

    What's matter with Silverback DC-8 doing?

    Nothing is wrong with AFCAD/another cargo airlines and airlines.

    What I supposed to do with Silverback DC-8?

    Simplest thing to try is adding couple of other Cargo parkings spots - just to see if your wandering aircraft now parks there.

    If it does, then you may have to add some tarmac etc. to the afcad to make the added Cargo parking areas look correct.

    It is an experiment worth trying in my opinion.

    I would also suggest, in addition to Opa's ideas, disabling all your other AI by moving their traffic files someplace safe.

    See if your DC-8 parks in the right spot if it's the only active AI at that airport.

    Also try, as Opa suggested, moving that spot to the top and/or bottom of the parking list.

    If memory serves, try the bottom first.

    Note: the parking stall number is not what we are talking about, but that stalls spot in the parking list - Lists>Parking

    peace,
    the Bean

    PS. stupid question time - are you re-starting FS after every Afcad edit/save?

    Also suggest you do not use a saved flight, start a new flight for each test, from the Create-a-Flight screen
