    Hi,
What are your thoughts of me upgrading my GPU for FS9?

    Current :
    XP HOME
    2GB RAM DDR1
    Intel P4 Prescott 2.8ghz 1MB cache 533mhzfsb
    FX5500 128mb
    500W supp

    Should I go to 512 or 1GB on an AGP x4 GPU ( c.£60 ) ?

    Happy New Year,

    Berne

    Hello
I am no expert but i would say there appears to be good and bad news.
    First the good.
    1.You have 2G of Ram.(i only have 1)
    2.You have a 500watt PSU(mine is only 250watt but i have had no problems.
    The Bad(i think)
1...533mhz? (i haven't seen mention of mHz as far as processor speed is concerned since 1865.
2...I believe your graphics card is also a pretty old as well.
    Please don't be offended.
My pc has a p4 2.8GHz and a reasonable mid range card GForce 6600 card and MY system is defiantly considered to be grey haired and middle aged.
PS you will probably be limited to an AGP card on your setup(same as myself)and although still available are getting quite rare now because of the newer PCIE cards that modern PCs use.You may be limited to a lower power graphics card upgrade because of your setup(i am not sure about this though)
Take heart i used to use fs 2002 with 366mhz celeron processor and whilst not great it did used to run after a fashion.
My present setup manages fs9 fine though.

    Anyway some thoughts.
Now its time for the real tech guys to step in.
    cheers Andy

    Hi Andy,
We have the same CPU basically, I have PCI slots but good tech advice is to stay with AGP as it allows a higher bus speed ....but...again I dont want to upgrade the GPU if performance gain is minimal...looking now for the tech guys...? I dont mind the grey hair I just want to see what it can do when at max power.

    HNY take care,
