dude take a deep breath and count to 3....... There ya go now. Have you ever decided to install a seperate internal hard drive possibly a 120GB or larger drive dedicated only to FS9. Because that is what I have done and I have a ton of addons in FS9 and I am running just fine!

The out of memory error is rarely due to lack of actual memory on the computer. It is usually associated with a memory leak caused by addon scenery that is installed incorrectly.

I had the error a couple of weeks ago. I had taken the FS9.CFG file and made a copy of it and the pasted in a back up area. Went to start FS9 so it could rebuild the .cfg file and mine said out of memory. 2gb of memory on my pc and it still said that plus my hard drive is only 15% full. Put the .cfg file back in the proper place and it started working.

    Crazy crazy stuff..

As has been mentioned, out of memory errors are rarely due to a lack of physical memory. Do the errors happen when flying into or out of specific airports? Empty scenery folders are one big cause of out of memory errors. Have you tried the latest video drivers? Make sure you have the latest DirectX updates as well.

Personally, I don't think "OOM" errors are caused by so-called memory leaks. It is my understanding that they occur when you undertake a flight involving add-on sceneries (maybe with add-on aircraft, too) that place a heavy load on the system and the problem usually occurs as you approach your destination airport. Between them all they want more memory than FS9 is allocated by XP. I don't believe there is any solution for XP users other than the 3GB patch, which has avoided any further occurrences since I installed it a long while ago.

You can get the patch from http://ntcore.com/ .

But if you have given up FS9 as you say, you don't want to know this of course. But don't blame Fright Stimulator, it works perfectly well out of the box without any addons. Pushing it to the limits is the choice of the end-user.
