    Default Airlifters Side by Side

Here's a series of comparison shots that give a good sense of the relative size of the main modern day airlift airplanes used by the USAF. Series was taken on the flight line at Nellis AFB outside Vegas.

I didn't realize what a monster the C5 was til I did this series. The airplanes are the Captain Sim C-130, UKMIL freeware C-17, newly released Area 51 C-5 and HJG KC-135. Probably this series should also have a C-141 but I didn't have one handy for the shots.

I'm still in awe of how big the C-5 is!!

Well I would have to say that puts everything in perspective.

    Nice comparison.

But, if you think the C-5 is a giant. Wait until you bring in Russia's beast. The Antonov An-225 Mriya(translated "Dream"). That is the record holder on the world's largest fixed-wing aircraft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225

That thing makes the Galaxy look anemic.

My gosh. A C-5 did some fly-bys along a beach during an airshow in my area. It looked big. Now that I see it being compared to a C-130, C-17 etc... It's Huge. Now you gotta throw an AN-225 in there, see what that looks like...
The pilot is bound only by his mind and his machine. We must expand the mind before we expand the machine, and by expanding the mind, we may expand the machine. Our mind is being expanded by the sim. It is not a game.
