Thread: XMas Event?

  1. #1

    Default XMas Event?

Has anyone finalized plans for an XMas event yet?

Some years ago, I had the idea for a big XMas event which never came to pass, which would have culminated with an arrival at Juneau Valley.

If know one else has anything ready yet, I would like to do one which would end at Holkam Bay on December 13th.

    Any objections?

    Talking It's on you...

    Bring it Andy,

Haven't heard anything mentioned, besides you've been standing in line for a year?

Christmas in Alaska is getting to be a ritual around here.

    What sceneries will we need?

    Cheers,

Perfect timing for an Alaska event. I just stated working my way up the western coast of Canada toward Holkham Bay today using radio range and ded reckoning navigation only. Made it from Seattle to CZMT (Masset, BC Canada) today, with stops in Vancouver and Port Hardy, BC. Last leg from Port Hardy to Masset was interesting...sun went down and I lost the RR signal after about 45 min. I didn't pick up the Masset NDB for another hour, so now I was flying "deaf and blind" giving the E6-B quite a workout. Once I got to the airport, had to execute the NDB approach as visibility was only about 2 miles.

Next stop Sitka, then east across the mountains of the Tongass National Forest and into Frederick Sound, then north up Stephens Passage to PAHB.

Andy, get your event details posted. It just wouldn't be Christmas without a trip to Juneau Valley and Holkham Bay.

    Default Wonderful idea!

    Andy,

Sounds like fun! As soon as I finish the DC3 World Rally I will beging to head up to Holkham from Boulder City. I like Mike's idea of a RR trip all the way.
Hope all had a nice Thanksgiving!
