Default Can anyone nail Loopy Larry and the Red Bull Time Trial missions, every time?

I'm just wondering what kind of skill level to aspire to. I have managed to 'do' these missions - with multiple attempts and save points, but certainly can't load them up and do them straight away everytime.

The same goes for the last helicoptor obstacle course - landing on that moving yacht took me ages, and I'm sure it would take me ages to repeat.

With more practice should I hope to be able to nail these missions easily, or are they just too hard for the average individual?

landing on that moving bus caused my to have my hair turn gray, they fall out. in reality, it is very hard, sometimes frustrating, but it does feel great to finally land on it. i am still trying to figure out how to finish the UFO mission myself..

Default Its not easy to be Loopy Larry.

    Hi Ianso,

Don't give up. It took me dozens of tries and a lot of broken planes but I got to where I could land on the bus and get stopped but then of course, the bus turns around and I'd fall off. It was fun and I couldn't do it every time but I got pretty good at it. It took an awful lot of time and effort but I discovered that I could work best in spot view and watch my wheels as they got closer to the platform. For practice you can save the flight just as you are coming close to the bus and open to that same point in the flight so you can work on the hardest parts over and over. Good luck and have fun.

Default Some missions are really tough for me too.

    Hi again Iainso,

I read your question again. The FSX missions like landing on that moving yacht, the obstacle course, and the secret mission after landing a charter heli on top of the building...yeah these are tough to do. I don't want to know how many times I got close then lost it then started over and I'm glad no one could hear me

As I said in my previous post, if you save a flight at a critical time you can restart and run it over and over as you try to perfect your skills. I'm still very clumsy in a heli and its tough to control one with a just a joystick but I find that I can handle it better in spot view from behind. You might try that.

Have fun and don't worry, this stuff takes skill and it has to be learned, but you will get better That's why real flyers enjoy this simulation and why some of us overgrown kids can't get enough of it. Good luck.

I accomplished the Loopy Larry challenge once, that is all I needed. I can't imagine being able to do it whenever I wanted to. Perhaps with a better flight stick and better settings than I currently have, it would be better but maybe it wouldn't be.

It took me quite a few tries on the Loopy Larry one. I finally got it and can do it right most of the time now. The Red Bull one, now, that's a different story......

One I have NEVER been able to finish is the Jet Truck race. With Acceleration, nitrous (?) can be injected for that extra boost. But even with that, I am always WAY behind. Yes timing is obviously extremely critical. I even tried the F18, figured that should get me there in time, but every time it says I started too soon -- even though I was way behind the start line!!!

Interesting, I must have got lucky with the timing on Jet Truck drag race, I managed to do that one after just a few goes - have never tried it again since though.

Anyway, glad to hear everyone else finds these missions just as tricky as I do.
I'm wondering if better hardware helps (or is it just a case of a bad workman blaming his tools ), I have a fairly cheap logitech joystick and use the twist action for rudder when I need it (I use autorudder most of the time).
