Default Another "I'm getting old" thread.

So today I did an easy trip to Coventry with a group I take out 20 times a year.

I decided to jump on train and nip up to Birmingham (EGBB) for a couple of hours. After spending some time in the gallery I decided to walk up to long stay car park 1 to watch the Emirates 777 take off. A few minutes before a few planes had landed, mainly charter stuff but a couple of FlyBe Dash8 Q400s had arrived too.

Anyway there are quite a few people with luggage all heading the same way. A phone rings behind me and a young lad answers it. He's chatting to his mother saying he's just landed and is on his way home and will help his little brother with his homework after he's had a bit of lunch.

I turn round to see the young guy, very young looking guy, in complete FlyBe uniform with 2 stripes on his tunic! The monarch stewardesses behind him looked older and they were quite young

He looked like I could be his father, I'm 38!!

I guess my stereotype of an airline pilot beinga distingushed older gent, usually ex RAF is out of date

That sounds familiar. It reminds me of a while back where I was moments away from flying while waiting in front of the gate staring at the 777 outside the window.
The pilots walked by at that moment and I noticed there was a third pilot that looked like the captain's son really. The boy looked like he was 18 or even younger... Probably still in training I hope!
I enjoy Airbus. I hope we can still be friends...

You know your getting old when the planes you've flown in end up in museums.

You know you're getting old when the old joke about "needing tweezers to hold it" doesn't seem so funny anymore...

You know your getting old when you stories begin like this...

Well it was back in Nineteen-Diggity-Do...

Because you can't remember what year it was. As a matter of fact most kids these days get bored when you start talking about the 1900's.

Yeah, but hey...compared to today, we had it all. No cellphones, no Internet, to GPS, none of that...and we didn't need it. Hey, we had it good back then. Miami Vice, rock (which is prefaced by the word "Classic" now...), you name it. There'll never be another time like that.
