Thread: MSFS-quality aircraft addons?

    Default MSFS-quality aircraft addons?

Hi, I've just ordered XP, it'll take a little while for it to drift over here from America and then negotiate the postal strikes in the UK...

I used to use FS a lot, and my favourite aircraft were Rick Piper's HS748, David Maltby's set of British jet airliners (we used to make them here...), and the Dreamfleet 727. All aircraft which require you to think about managing the electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and navigate with old VOR-era instruments (the HS748 even has a DME with a needle readout, rather than numeric - I've never seen any other FS aircraft with one!). I used to run around the airways on VATSIM in them until a hardware failure made me stop sometime last year :-(

Anyway, are there any broadly similar aircraft for XP? I've heard good things about the Mu-2, does it simulate the systems well? Also, is there a site which reviews XP addons like this site used to do for MSFS?

I'm really hoping to start developing panels for aircraft in XP - I started doing it in FS9 before I ran out of graphics cards...

    Hello and welcome !

If you want to find nice add-ons, start with X-Aviation.com, XPFR.org and X-Plane.org.

Some add-ons are fare more advanced than FS2004/FSX add-ons. You'll even find working circuit-breakers like in the Sequoia Falco and the weather radar like in the Yak-40, a very good FMS like in the CRJ-200.

    You can find reviews here:

Yes, most people think X-Plane is still looking like X-Plane 7, but where in 2012 now and it's time to wake up.
