Thread: Question

    Default Question

Hello Guys, I have a question today, have any of you ever tried "Flight Pro Sim" ? I just found it on "google earth" website. I did not even know of its existance. Anyway, apparently its entirely built on google maps and therefore it is supposed to be a much smoother game, not a Frame Rate hugger...????

I wonder if this is true? Anyone that is familiar with it, please let me know.

    Thank you.

Perhaps this is what we're talking about? http://earth.google.com/userguide/v4....html#entering I couldn't find a "home" page for it.

Only thing I can quickly conclude is - if it's too good to be true........guess the rest.

    'fraid not.
What I mentioned is just if it's better than MS Flight Sim, people would obviously be flocking to it. It may not be a frame rate hugger but it's most likely lacking in other areas. But I shouldn't draw any conclusions until I actually try it, also curious if anyone else has tried it?

I've used it...it is just a little addition to Google Earth kind of like how they put a Flight Simulator into Microsoft Excel many years ago as well.

It isn't really a flight simulator more then just a simple way to fly around in Google Earth.

You can use Microsoft Virtual Maps or Yahoo Maps in Microsoft Flight Simulator using Tileproxy if that is something you are looking for.

If you are asking about Flight Sim Pro: http://flightprosim.com/

Be advised that it is nothing more than a DVD version of the FREE and OPEN SOURCE program from the nice folks at Flight Gear:

This is a commercial adaption of the world renown flight Gear project. Further information available in our Developers Area
"Commercial adaption (sic)" my aunt's fanny... It's a blatant attempt to gull the innocent into paying for something they could download for free from here:

Then they shouldn't have released it as open source. They chose to release it under the GNU GPL which states:

    Generally true in life.

But anyone coming to Flightsim for the first time (or Avsim...) finds that just once in a blue moon, "too good to be true" is nevertheless "true". All those wonderful planes and sceneries done for the love of it - then just shared with the world.

In passing: I found here the exact plane (registration and all) on which I flew my first solo - over 40 years ago. Just how cool is that?
