spotting at JFK

guys please help me: where is a right spot and how to get to it?

I went around the airport, all terminal access roads are too far off the runways and even the areas where the jets are resting docked, nevermind the fact that you can not park at the terminals, drop-offs only. There must be some small little roads somewhere passing near by runway ends where people are gathering to spot.

A map view would help, otherwise description is ok.

I can tell you that if you take the AirTrain, you can get off at each and every terminal, and the Continental terminal in particular offered some really up close views to parked aircraft.........I'm talking like 30 feet away from the plane deal. I've only done this twice and don't remember it too well, but it's worth a shot in my opinion. It's an excellent way to explore the airport because you can keep getting on and off at each terminal.

LaGuardia I can definitely tell you some good spots.

I dont know about JFK but if you want LGA I will give you a perfect spot. Bring a chair, a scanner and a few friends, put it on the grass and enjoy where no one will bother you, and have a clear view of RWY 4 including the PAPI. In between you and the runway is the Grand Central parkway.

Better yet there is an Aviation college right next door. They have an ATC like tower and has an even clearer view of the entire RWY 4 and there is ATC (LGA Tower) on the PA system for all the here.
