is there a way to get rid of the annoying don't sink "guy". thanks
Yes, there is. Include (copy then paste) this section into aircraft.cfg. Make copy of cfg first, just in case. I put it in any mil jet, or aerobatic, or bush airplane I own, FSX and FS9. Hint: put it in a notepad file, name it 'GroundProximityAlerts.txt' (or, 'GPA.txt') and save it to 'My Documents' for safe keeping & easy access.
[GPWS] //Thanks to Rob Barendregt for this 'trick'.
//This Diables the 'don't sink', 'too low-flaps', etc call outs
max_warning_height = 0
sink_rate_fpm = -9999
excessive_sink_rate_fpm = -9999
climbout_sink_rate_fpm = -9999
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -9999

Hi Folks
Rather than edit your aircraft.cfgs
assign a key to this and you'll be able to silence the GPWS system at will.

Glad to read that, I'm going to have to do that. Perhaps someone can explain -- I'm right on the glidescope at a nice steady speed, flaps/gear down, a nice even descent, and I STILL hear Don't....sink......don't.....sink......pull....UP!! All the way to the runway. I've downloaded PMSounds which includes all those sounds of course, but I disabled them but still get the default ones. I thought my approach looked good, I guess "HE" didn't!!!
One of thse things is these ground proximity warnings. This is why Rob did this. Why have warnings if they are all wrong? Right? Right. Did not go to the link in above post. My guess is it disables everything relevant. Maybe not. But Rob's section add to config is selective where you can leave it in for heavies (if you want). I don't need (or enjoy) warnings with a Harrier doing an approach to a helipad. In fact it infuriates me to hear that idiot's insistant voice (this has left me emotionally scared for life-thanks a lot M$ (hehe)) especially when the whole mess is WRONG-grrrrrrr.

the key stroke did not work for me the plane that I put it in[PAD JAZZ CRJ200] already had the GPWS header in the air cfg. just had to alter it. Will let you know .thanks for replys
it is annoying, especially in helicopters when it's constantly going off for no reason.
the alteration did work thanks
The GPWS warning is stndard on a lot of planes even on finals. On the DC-10--on which I was rqted you get WHOOP WHOOP pull up. The most chilling soiund I have ever heard is the CVR from Air New Zealand 901 at Mount Erbus. You get the GPWS Pull Up, then Jim Collins saying "Go Around Power, Please" "Greg respoinds "Go Around Power" you hear the engines begin to spool up then, CRUNCH , then----silence.
I was on the recovery team for that one. Jim Collins was a friend, andf the F/O and I often met at antique car shows.
I just go the sound folder and change the name of the sound file ( I add "a" at the end of the file name ) Simple and quick!
