AI - Selection?

I have hundreds of planes in my aitcraft folder. However I only wany some to be AI planes. How do I enable or disable a plane to be used by AI. Perhaps this is not possible. Obvoiously some planes knock your FPS more than others, so it would be nice to dissable the AI use of the frame hoggers. Suggestions / Comments welcome!
