Default Data Transfer cable or USB to USB cable...Which one??

I will be finishing my i7 rig before long and will want to tranfer some files from the Q6600 rig to the i7 rig.I see "Data Transfer Cables" for 20.00-30.00 bucks...I also saw a USB to USB cable at a discount store for 1.00....My question is,what is the difference between a Data Transfer cable and a plain ole USB to USB cable???? I would NOT buy or use the 1.00 cable.....Thanks Lou

    Hi,

Just network both computers together and then transfer the data. Then after that, use Wide FS and FSUIPC to run certain 3rd party software on the old computer while running FS on the new one!

    Thanks,
    Thanks,

I network my computers using a crossover LAN cable. I made mine but I think they are about $10. The nice thing about it is the 500 Mb/s transfer speed.
Just in case you have an extra LAN cable laying around here's a link to modifying it. http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/cable/cable5.htm

    Hi,

6GB is enough, 12 is too much.
    Thanks,
