The way I do it is as follows:

    1. From the library here select a scenery enhancement which is designed specifically for FSX - read the file description carefully!

    2. Download it to your computer and unzip it to a tempory folder (perhaps on your desktop).

    3. Read the install instruction very carefully. I never unzip anything directly to the sim but always to a temp folder so I can check it out first.

    4. Copy the scenery add-on (usually will have a folder with the name of the enhancement - example: Cherry Point NAS) and Paste it into your Addon scenery folder in FSX.

There may be other files (such as effects) which will need to be placed in your Effects folder also.

    5. Start FSX - select SETTINGS, then select SCENERY LIBRARY, then select ADD.

This will bring up a explorer dialogue where you navigate to the name of the scenery folder you just pasted into your addon scenery folder.

Highlight that folder by clicking on it and then hit OK - it should be added to the menu you see.

The sim will then index the new addition and you should be able to back out to the Main Menu again.

It works for me - good luck.

If you are running Windows 7 you first have to uninstall FSX SP2, install new files, reinstall SP2.

    -Uninstall SP2 then reinstall SP2-

I don't have this problem, are you sure you are using an administrator account and running FSX as Administrator?

You are not "searching" for anything - you are navigating to a specific folder - just as you would when using the usual My Comupter dialogue to explore your hard drive.

Perhaps I have mis-understood what you are actually doing when trying to add (activate) a new scenery addition.

I am using XP but the procedure should be the same in Vista.

What exactly did you Copy and Paste into your Addon Scenery folder?

This is an example of what it should be like (fictious scenery name)

    Addon scenery

    ----MY New Scenery
    --------Scenery
--------Texture (will not always have a texture subfolder)

There must be at least one BGL file in the scenery subfolder of any addition (in this example the scnery subfolder of MY New Scenery) or FS will not accept the entry. Most scenery additions will have many BGLs in the scenery subfolder.

Please report back as to what you actually have in your "test" entry.
