Buy a new PC that is the only answer that might help. Your pc specs just wont work on high settings. You need at least 2 Gig ram and a 512 meg video card with at least a 80 Gig , reasonably fast harddrive to get any sort of performance out of it.

    Agreed...I am running:
    Quad core 1.7ghz
    4 gb RAM
    2 X 500GB Hard Drives 32MB Cache
    NVIDIA 9800GT

And I am still not quite fully satisfied...Therefore I am eyeing the Intel Core I7 at the moment.

Adding more ram to a Compaq Athlon 2.7 is a band-aid solution...

Frankly with 2 GB ram, that computer is going to have problems running FSX.

My advice is to find a copy of FS2004 for sale cheap and use it. There is a wealth of freeware for that version available and some great low cost payware.

FS2004 will be much less of a load, and a significant visual upgrade over FS98.

Keep reading the threads about tweaking.
I started out with 2.3 fps nad after coming to this board, i now get 16 fps with most things almost maxed out except lightbloom and shadows checkoffs.

I got to get an amd phenom ii 955 cpu and redo the system to vista 64 bit.

Then i should really see some major improvemnts.
