Thread: Aicarriers2 Install Problems

  1. Question Aicarriers2 Install Problems

    Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone can help me? I was running aicarriers2 with the Nimitz a few months ago with no problems. It was deleted (idiot) and I'm now having big problems getting it to show up in the addons menu!(it won't activate with the hotkey shift + J either.
I have Java installed, the setup was auto, it has written the correct path in the EXE.xml file, when loading FSX the cfg has written a line with the correct path as trusted software! The funny thing is 2 days ago it suddenly appeared and now it won't load again.
I know the program was made by Lamont Clark but I have sent an email but no result. I really do enjoy carrier launch and recovery so its really disappointing. I have checked out Abacus FD4 and FD5 but they just don't compare with the Nimtz etc.

I'm running FSX with accl pack on Vista 64 and as I said it has been working previously.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Do a search, if you can or maybe someone will post it. There is a small Java script that seems to be the culprit. It's a very simple change and it seems to work fine. Sorry, I don't have the link to the thread.

    Default It?

You said 'it was deleted'. What was deleted? Nimitz? Or aicarriers2?

Seems strange it would come-and-go like that, unless it has something to do with your settings for ships (slider in traffic). I have mine set to 51% so default ai carrier can show up in sim. I have aicarrier2 installed, and working, for airport arrester cables called FLOLS trailer. Just downloaded Nitmitz. Will try later tonight. And my 'Shift+J' (used to be 'Ctrl+J') does NOT work. I have to go to menu via alt key press to set up FLOLS. (I hit 'Shift+J' about 50 times before I caught on (hehe)-nah, just kidding). Read up. Here's links:

In the forums there should be info about 'aicarriers2' (keyword in search). Good luck.

  4. Thumbs up

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the response, I found a thread on Sim Outhouse re Nimitz with a link to

    http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=252685

And it works! Apparently it was caused by a windows update that deleted the line from the hosts file in windows\system\32. So for anybody else thats suffering its the answer.

I did a pm to the guy who solved it so I'm now flying again doing launches and the odd crash landing! (sometimes I even catch a wire)
