Default Internet Explorer Interrupts FS sessions

An irritating situation has arisen in my FS experience.[/p]

Whenever I am in the middle of a flight in FS 2002 for some reason Internet Explorer (version 6) launches. This causes my FS session to halt, get frozen and crach with an error message stating that a Sim1.dll or a d3dim700.dll or a g3d.dll caused the error. This happens at any stage after launching the game. It may be while I'm parked at the gate, while taxing, on the runway ready to take off or in mid air etc etc. The only other third party software I have installed is FSNavigator with about five extra planes to the default ones that come with FS2002. What could be causing these .dll disruptions and what can I do to stop them.[/p]

I'm running FS 2002 on Windows ME with a 535Mhz processor and 256MB RAM with 20GB of hard drive space available.[/p]

[p]Thank you all for your help.[/p]

It sounds like you have a bad case of spyware intrusion. Download Ad-Aware (http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1), do a scan, and remove any spyware that may be installed.

May not solve the problem, but it does seem likely.

Thanx a lot for the suggestion Wileyecoyote. It ran Ad-Aware and removed whatever spyware I found on my system but my FS session still crashed with yet another .dll error message. I now suspect it is the ATC traffic which I have set at 95% that could be the problem. When I reduce the ATC traffic to about 5 - 10% my system doesn't crash as much. What I still don't understand is why Internet Explorer wants to launch if it is indeed an ATC traffic error.

It shouldn't matter though... I'm quite happy with my IE6/FS setup (that is, not problems).

By the way, Zedian, if you have something like Kazaa installed, that might cause it as well, as those programs often display some kind of ad periodically.

    I prefer 5.5. 6 just sucks.

My dad uses that **** KaZaAa program. I made it quite clear to him - when someone else is on the computer playing games, it's off, as in EndItAll off.
