    Default AMD or Intel

Could anyone please tell me which processor is best for fs2004, AMD or Intel and which particular one.

I think at this point pretty much any processor with a speed of around 3.0GHz made by either company will enable you to max out most graphic settings with FS9.

Let's think outside the box, invest in the processing power of the computer for the future. I suggest an Intel i7 processor, to date this is just about the most powerful processor available and the price is not that bad. In my opinion Intel processors seem to be more heat tolerant, run at a very low temperature, and seem to be more durable.

Possibly you could save money with an AMD Phenom 2, I don't know how much they are, but I think a Phenom 2 system would be cheaper to build.

On the other hand the Intel i7 processor is absolutely cutting edge, and the processor itself is not that expensive. The i7 would be a better investment for the future, it would be more capable of running new games and games in the near future than the AMD processor.

    Default Which Proc is better?

That depends on how much you want to spend. In the mid range, ie: ~$175-$250......AMD is every bit as good as Intel in fact they are faster and less expensive. When you get up into the higher end Intel Procs they start to pull ahead of the AMD CPU's. But....with that speed comes the price. You can start to spend up towards $900.00 for the latest and greatest Intel i7. I just got an AMD Phenom II x4 810.....I should have waited and gotten a 950, but still, this CPU is a pretty good deal. It has 4 cores and is running at 2.6ghz. It is also and AM3 not a 2 or 2+. That means my support hardware will be viable for a while.

With regards to a previous poster as to the technology of AMD procs. My CPU is manufactured on a 45nm die which is about where the industry standards are now, even Intel. My CPU runs nice and cool because of the die size and I've had AMD procs for more than ten years and have never had any issues with them. Go to www.anandtech.com and read up on procs, they have an extensive library of tech reports as well as a very active forum on many different aspects of PC technology.
