Thread: Trouble with FS 2004 and Vista

  1. Angry Trouble with FS 2004 and Vista

I searched high and low for anyhting relating to my problem to no avail. I installed FS 2K4 on a new computer with Vista. No addons yet, nothing. It just won't work right. Starts ok, installs ok, start running it, hardly works.

I try to switch views, the sound changes, view doesn't. If and when i finally get to the "spot plane" view, its frozen, comeback to the cockpit, frozen again. Not sure how to fix it since i installed it fresh. I tried adjusting the frame rate, nothing. I'm not sure what the deal is. I'm very computer illiterate, so if its not very basic, I may be stuck. I never had a problem with it on xp, with many add-ons and all. Not sure what to do here?

Right click the FS9 shortcut or exe file, click on Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, check "Disable desktop composition". Let me know if that works or not.

    Default Trouble With FS9 & Vista 64

Just built a new system and loaded up the FSs. FS 9 would not work until I found your suggestions. Works like a charm now.

This fix should be a "sticky" on FS9 forum

    Thanks.

This fix should be a "sticky" on FS9 forum
This forum is already a big sticky
