Thread: Flight Yoke Problem

    Default Flight Yoke Problem

I use the Saitek Pro Flight, but have borrowed a CH yoke for comparison, and find this problem occurs with both. The rudder deflects to the right and stays there. It also pulls nose-up. This happens without any manual input to the units. As such, it is impossible to taxi. Attempts at straightening the rudder are pointless, and the deflection recurrs.

The Saitek was working just fine until perhaps a week ago, when this started. I did not install any software at the time, and the only thing I added around that time was a GoFlight GF-46.

Because it happens with both CH and Saitek hardware, I assume this to be a FS9 problem. Messing with sensitivities and calibration are ineffective. I do have the latest FSUIPC payware installed, but have not assigned any hardware to it.

Does anyone recognize this behavior, and if so, did you find a solution?

    Thanks

Hi, Chip. In the FS9 menu, go to Aircraft==>Realism Settings and in the lower right, untick (or tick) "Autorudder". See how that works for you.

    Thanks Chuck,

Same result. I'm thinking there is a peripheral somewhere on my system that is sending this right deviation command to FS and certain other software, as last night while running "Brothers In Arms...", I noticed a couple of instances of uncommanded starboard deviations. Looks like I'll be unplugging USB devices until the problem stops.

Is there a key mapper type of program that would show the origin of these uncommanded inputs?

    Hi Chip,

There have been reports before of this sort of problem where the root cause is a USB joystick still plugged in and active.

Try making sure that only one "flight control device" is connected at any one time (alongside a set of rudder pedals if you have them) and see if the problem disappears.

Also be aware that most USB yoke type devices need a relatively small current and if your USB Hub is set to "go to sleep" if "unused" for any length of time this might also be relevant here as the Hub may not detect enough current to "stay awake". Go into your Control Panel settings, locate the settings for your USB devices and un-check the "sleep" option where present.

    Hi,

Also, go to Control Panel,Game Controllers and make sure they are listed correctly. Next go to Properties, Settings, Calibrate and re-calibrate. Save those settings and then start FS.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Check the trim and the right rudder affect might be because of hi realism settings. Because of the way turbines and fans spin in engines, the plane yaws right ewhen you go down or up.

I think the issue is beyond FS and his other games. Have you tried to revert back to a save point a week or two?

Try and disable the joystick (K key I believe) use the keynoard, and see if the rudder is still deflecting.
