Can't edit my scenery file in FS 2002

I have just purchased a new super fast computer and being an avid flight sim fanatic I could not wait to load my FS2002 on.

The Amd XP2100 processor and 512 RAM 64 mega graphics card it was super. But alas when I downloaded some scenery and went to edit the scenery file in FS2002, I find I cant access the file.

It says open with and I have tried notepad and word but no success. Any one help please. I have Office 97 installed and the operating system is XP..Never had this problem in windows 98 or 95. I know It sounds dumb but help!!!! please

Can't you just click the scenery.cfg file to
open it?

You'll have to make sure the file associations are correct.
.cfg should be notepad.exe.
start notepad and then open the file that way.
