Hi, does anyone know a real good and efficient gauges remover program that will not delete gauges you still need. I tried a few ones but I found out that some gauges were missing for aircrafts that were still active.
Thank you

Just wondering, why would you want to remove any gauges from your gauges folder ? They aren't hurting anything being there are they ? Unless you have a serious HD low memory problem and you're trying to get every possible Mb you can freed up, I can't see any harm just leaving them in there.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here please

Agreed. No software can differentiate between the `latent` gauges that remain in the folder because they `might` be used - such as the CFS2 gauges - and those which have been installed with some aftermarket package.
We have had several dozen posts from people complaining that panel designers have left out gauges from their panels, only for it to be subsequently discovered that a gauge cleaner has been used and that the designer's entirely reasonable assumption that default gauges are fully installed is therefore false, and entirely outside their control.
The best bet is to just remove those renamed and purpose-specific elements that you can identify and just leave the rest.

Normand,
I'm afraid I have to disagree with both of these responses. I use Gauge Clean by Nicola Marangon and its a great utility. You do not have to have gauges deleted. There is a selection checkbox that allows you to put all "cleaned" gauges in a backup folder (outside of FS2002 if you like).
In addition, I'm the one that complained about lost gauges (not 12 other people - see posting search to check) and it had nothing to do with using the Gauge Clean software. These lost gauges were not included with a downloaded panel so, as far as I'm concerned, this was sloppy work by the developer not something I did. Unfortunately, Simon has a bad habit of making assumptions not in evidence.
And I don't know about you but I found 143Mb of wasted disk space of unused gagues. I can't image deleting them from the disk drive wouldn't help with panel operation. Afterall, FS2002 has to search a very large file to get to the gauges that are in the FS2002 Gauge folder. My gauge folder is over 500Mb so removing any gauges that aren't being used helps. I'll also say that I have a great deal of other software on my computer besides FS2002. I use it for many things - its not a dedicated game machine. Even though I have a 40Gb drive, I can't afford to waste 140Mb of space with totally unused gauges. That's not smart nor efficient.
Now, I don't delete the "cleaned" gauges. I move them to a CD-ROM. Whenever I find a panel with missing gauges, I check both the current FS2002 Gauge folder and I check the CD-ROM for gauges removed by the Gauge Clean software.
So, I think this is a personal decision. I found the Gauge Clean software to be useful in finding missing gauges. As users, I'll bet that most people do not even know if a gauge is missing from a panel. Unless its something very obvious, you may not even see it.
