Thread: No ground around some airports runways?

  1. Default No ground around some airports runways?

I've been flying from FS2004 default RAF Kinloss recently and the ground around the taxi and runways is all white or black, if you stray onto these areas whilst taxiing you crash. I have noticed this before but it never bothered me as I mainly use the larger airports which all seem fine. I have checked out some other smaller airports and found the same thing at some of them. Its really starting to annoy me as I want to use more different airports. Is this just how FS2004 is? I have no addon terrain or textures, is all default.

Oh, when I spawn at the airport, the ground dose flash green briefly but then id vanishes to white. The runways and taxiways are all fine.

    Any ideas?

Are you speaking of EGQK - Kinloss AB in the United Kingdom?

As the attached screenshots show, the ground around the airport looks perfectly fine to me.

I suspect you may have some corrupted textures in your Scenery/EURW/texture folder.

You might try restoring those textures from your install disks. If you decide to do that, these resources will be helpful:

    http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/faq001.html
It shows where everything is on your install disks and how extract just what you need.

I also recommend fs9cddir.zip - compiled by Brian Collins (available here in the library)

This is an Excel format listing of all the files on your install disks. A great resource to keep handy.

    Good luck!
