Thread: Where's the WOAI daytime traffic?

  1. #1

Default Where's the WOAI daytime traffic?

Has anyone else noticed this with World Of AI? I've noticed that I have ZERO (or very very little) traffic when flying in Day time. But when I select Dusk OR Night--not sure about Dawn-- tada, there they are.
KATL for instance-- parked at the gate in daytime, I'm the only one at the airport! Switch to Dusk, there isn't a spot empty.

Any ideas? (I keep my AI Traffic sliders at Max)

    Wink I donno?

My KATL has so many DAL liveries (day or night) that my FPS is minus 5.

You got that right! Don't know about the minus 5 part though. Delta literally fills every gate. I did find WAY out there at some hangar a UPS freighter and I believe an American Airlines! Anyway...

I just thought about it, when I first installed WoAI, I had a problem with seeing only the lights, effects, etc.--no plane itself. Mcbagpiper mentioned a little while back to turn off aircraft shadows, which somehow fixed it (Thanks Steve!)! I do believe BEFORE I fixed that I had traffic in the daytime. Just a thought....

If you turn on the aircraft shadows does the traffic come back during the day (assuming that it will just be lights and effects you're able to see)? Otherwise it sounds like an airport specific issue with the flight plans?? Almost sounds like the flight times are reversed...instead of heavy traffic during the day you see it at night.

Now that you mention this I don't believe I get much if any at all. But I do get it when flying dusk or early morning... I just put this down to the airline schedules and not being at my main airport EGBB much during the day.

I am interested if you find a fix to this...

FYI- I have my traffic set to about 50

Try turning off "Aircraft casts shadows on ground" in your aircraft display options and see if that helps.

    mcbagpiper --
I haven't tried turning shadows back on, I'll have to give that a try. I'm trying to think though- I know I tried KORD also, but not sure whether it was day or night.

    mdavenport--
I forgot that you can edit flightplans and all that....... However I left everything at the default settings, it shouldn't have kept all the traffic for the night....

    gonpostal--
Thanks, mcbagpiper suggested that earlier in another thread. It did fix the problem I had -- there was no 'plane' itself visible, just the lights (strobes, landing...) and all the effects such as touchdown effects. Oh yes, and the little tags above 'em. Now I have my aforementioned problem. I leave shadows off now, as I prefer to see the whole plane and nothing but the plane.

Thanks folks, will try to find something out, although I won't be able to for the next several days.

    Default Analysis??

Wellllll, conclusion 1: WoAI needs a little improvement.

Here's what I found: Traffic is completely visible (textures and all, in air and on ground) in Dawn, Dusk, and Night. Day traffic is ONLY completely visible with "Aircraft casts shadows on ground" turned OFF. With it ON, only lights -- strobes, landing -- and the little tags above them are visible (after all that time of observing, I never got to watch any land), however, NONE appeared on the ground, at the gates or parking. Not even the little tags or lights.

It's funny, this time the "cast shadows on aircraft" option didn't change anything at all, unlike before.

So, I have no idea what's going on. Most of us can't do without aircraft ground shadows of course, so it looks like I'll be flying with invisible traffic for a while!! Any comments?

Notice the nice arrangement of AC on final, #s 3 & 4!

Try using Ult. Traffic instead. All these problems will go away

Suppose that's true, and that could-- should be expected of most paywares (not saying they don't come without any problems of course!). However, excellent AI traffic isn't that big an 'attraction' for me at this point.
