Thread: Saitek yoke dismantling

  1. Default Saitek yoke dismantling

I was wondering if anybody had experience in taking the yoke mechanism apart? I am building a home cockpit and need to place the panel inbetween the yoke and the yoke housing.

I guess I will take apart the unit to see whats inside, but wondering if people had experience with this, risks etc.

    thanks

The wires that go into the yoke shaft are soldered to the circuit board so I would say no unless you want to cut and resolder. Your best bet would be to drill your hole for the yoke then cut a same width slot below it and slide the panel onto the yoke. You can even make a plate that will slide up and fill the slot. I would make it removable (not glued) just in case you have to remove it for whatever reason.

Thanks and after taking it apart last night, I came to the same conclusion. The panel is out of wood and I will cut a slot down to the bottom and then reattach it as you indicated.

    Great minds think alike!
