Thread: Carenado PA28RT Arrow IV FS2004

Default Carenado PA28RT Arrow IV FS2004

I have downloaded the Arrow from Carenados web site. But have trouble installing, when I clicked the "install" button, it races through, in less than a second, to say its installed OK without any opportunity to check or alter the installation path. It doesn`t appear on the aircraft list under Carenado or Piper. It only appears in "Settings"..."Control Panel"..."Programs and features" When attempting to uninstall says "can`t be found..possibly already uninstalled" This proves to me that it didn`t install on my hard drive at all.
I`ve redownloaded from the Carenado site, but still no joy. I`ve explained all this to Carenado support, all I`ve got back is "It must be installed, you say it doesn`t appear in FS 2004, find it under Carenado."
Can some kind person suggest what else I can do? I`m not a beginner, I`ve 100 odd aircraft in FS 2004, and have never had trouble installing any of them.
Many thanks in advance, Stuart Ramsay

You could try temporarily renaming your existing Flight Simulator 9 folder to something like "FS9_ORIG" and then creating a dummy Flight Simulator 9 folder under Microsoft Games to try running the installer into. If it installs correctly into the dummy folder you could manually move the Arrow's files into your original FS9 installation, delete the dummy folder, and then rename "FS9_ORIG" back to "Flight Simulator 9".

I just tried this and it worked. I made a .bat file that does the renaming and creates a dummy folder structure complete with a phony fs9.exe. I can send you the .bat file if you want.

    Another option:
I've attached a file directory for the installed Arrow just in case it may be of use to you. Maybe if you did a "search & destroy" in your FS9 installation, deleting any/all files listed in the directory that may be present from your previous installation attempts, you could then run the Arrow's installer again, hopefully with success this time.

    Yet another thought
Do you have FSX installed? If so maybe the installer is reading the FS path from your registry and actually installing the Arrow into your FSX folder instead of the FS9 folder. Check the FSX folder and see if there's a "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Aircraft\Carenado ARROW PA28RT201" folder present. If so you'll probably have to get the Flight1 registry repair tool, fix the registry, and try running the Arrow's installer again.

Good luck, I hope you get this resolved quickly.

    Default Arrow installation

Thanks Jim for that. Before I had the chance to try out your ideas, I had a reply from Carenado support. They sent me a new Arrow file " it is the Arrow file without any username and password"

Anyway, it installed fine, just like all my other aircraft. I just wish I knew what the difference was between my original one. and the successful one.

Once again, thanks for your help. Stuart

Glad you got it straightened out. Nice airplane? I like it but I think I like the Mooney better, maybe just because it's faster. I sent Carenado an e-mail about the possibility of building a turbo arrow add-on, they said they'd consider it. Fingers crossed. Some altitude would do wonders for the Arrow's groundspeed.
