You can see they were once an option before release but why were they dropped?

You have to buy X-Plane to get cloud shadows.

I'm guessing it was a DX10 option that was never implemented in the DX10 'preview' that was finally provided.

For those whom the provided link does not work right click the link select copy link location then go to fs2004.com and then paste the copied link into the address bar of your browser and hit enter. For me fs2004.com didn't allow out of domain referrals.

I don't know if anyone has tried using the cloud shadows in X-Plane 9, but FYI it darkens the aircraft so bad that I had to turn them off...

True Answer to X-Plane Cloud Shadows: HORRIBLE Implementation

(maybe they will fix it in X-Plane 10? As long as they actually focus on the PC Version of X-Plane and not some reduced in quality rehashed junk for the iPhone...)

I am surprised there is no way to add them (or at least noone has done it) through the SDK or something. Maybe even an old aces team member letting the cat out of the bag. I just got REX last night and thought what it would be like to have cloud shadows also.
