When Lock On was released, it added a whole new level of realism, especially to the jet era combat simulator.

Now with DCS: Black Shark and their A10 Warthog, they have once again raised the bar - in my humble opinion

I voted CFS2 as my favourite WW2 sim, I've been playing it for about 8 years (my screenshots below), note it's NOT restricted to the Pacific, as you can get freeware addon planes for any WW1 and WW2 theatre and there's a dead easy mission builder included.
More recently I tried the newer IL-2 but didn't like it because its gun ballistics are like laser blasts and deflection shooting is unrealistically hard, so i soon switched back to CFS2 because I like CFS2's better "snaky hosepipe" gun ballistic modelling which lets you dramatically 'walk' your tracer into the enemy kite.

And this is my favourite jet combat sim- WINGS OVER EUROPE
It's another oldie-but-goodie that's attracted a big fan base over the years who are producing all sorts of new addons.
In fact it's expanded far beyond just Europe and you can also fly in the Arctic, Afgh, Desert etc.
There's a huge list of flyable planes covering 1946 to the present day, each with weapons and avionics suited to its own era.
The overall complexity is about medium which makes it very easy to get into.
Some of my screenshots from it-

Like the sound of the Old Pratts and Merline engines. Have to say CFS or CFS2 base that on the amount of modifications that can be done to the sims. Tried Janes and a couple of others sims for about an hour and did not realy care for them, Wish some company would come out with a new fighter sim based on WWll based on todays technology.

Likely why you have so many "Any other..." is because DCS is not on the list.
