Thread: xml and fsx

  1. Default xml and fsx

    can anyone point out good resources for getting the hang of fsx 's exe.xml formatting?

    I ve had a whole series of addons now that fail to install because I havent got this working properly. Is there anyone who does succesfully have 5 or 6 items all launched by the exe.xml file and integrating into fsx?

    apps that have needed it include fsdiscover, aicarrier,whalesinocean etc

    thanks

    I've never seen it documented, but mine looks like this:
    Code:
    <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
    <Descr>Launch</Descr>
    <Filename>EXE.xml</Filename>
    	<Disabled>False</Disabled>
    	<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
    	<Launch.Addon>
    		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
    		<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    		<Name>Autothumbnail</Name>
    		<Path>E:\Flt_Sim\Autothumbnail\Autothumbnail.exe</Path>
    	</Launch.Addon>
    </SimBase.Document>
    So I assume you just repeat this section as often as desired, with the correct name and path filled in:

    Code:
    	<Launch.Addon>
    		<Disabled>False</Disabled>
    		<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    		<Name>Autothumbnail</Name>
    		<Path>E:\Flt_Sim\Autothumbnail\Autothumbnail.exe</Path>
    	</Launch.Addon>

    i have mine set to automatically start up the following:

    -DvoFollowMe (program for adding a follow-me vehicle: http://followme.supercell.nl/)

    - "FSX Mouse Controls" (a program i made with Autohotkey to use the mouse middle button to control panning, for one handed panning)

    - VoiceChecklist (A freeware checklist program made by Oliver Strauss, i dodn't like having to start it up manually so i added it to the exe.xml file)

    so here's my exe.xml file now

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
    <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
    <Descr>Launch</Descr>
    <Filename>exe.xml</Filename>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>

    <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>DvoFollowMe</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>Disposition\FollowMe.exe</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>

    <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>FSX Mouse Controls</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSX Mouse Controls.exe</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>

    <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>Checklist</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\Voice Checklist\voiceChecklist.exe</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>

    </SimBase.Document>
    as you could see, i just reused the "launch.addon" entry and replaced the names and paths with the new entries
    FSX Acceleration ASUS G60VX, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, Intel Core 2 Duo @2.13 Ghz, 4GB RAM, nVIDIA GTX260M 1 GB, 500 GB HD

  4. Default thanks

    I think I may have a handle on part of my problem

    there were too many </SimBase.Document> entries

    from the ones listed I can see I only need 2 - one at start and one at the end
