    Default FS9 Video Card?

    Hi Folks,

I've been operating my FS9 on twin Nividia 6800 video cards; however one of them has packed it in and I had to replace them. At the suggestion of a computer knowedgable person I replaced them with one card; an ATI Radeon 4800. The result has been less than satisfactory. With Anti-ailiasing turned on with my old cards I had no distortion [shimmering textures], however, with the new card "shimmering textures" are very prevalent on buildings and objects at a distance. Is there card out there that works well for FS9, or is there a solution to this problem that I'm unaware of.

    Regards, Ken

did you go in and delete the old FS9.cfg entry for the old video card?

I have an ATI Sapphire x1950GT that runs two monitors very nicely. 25fps in all areas with all but two sliders maxed. Those two are at about 85% and the ATI card has all settings maxed for quality.

Not a bad card for FS9. It's huge though so make sure your case id big enough to hold it.

    Never noticed any shimmering.

    Hello,

With Anti-ailiasing turned on with my old cards I had no distortion [shimmering textures]
IMHO .. antialiasing filter action as nothing to do with shimmering (moire effect)
If you want reduce shimmering you will get your attention on the anisotropic filter ... and also set the midmap mapping to a approximate valor of "4" in the sim display hardware options.
