    Default Active runways question.

    Hello,
EDDF has runways 25L/07R, 25R/07L and 18/36. All runways have exactly the same length (at least that's what AFCAD says). So shouldn't FS choose the active runway according to wind direction? I was trying to get FS to do the following:
    - If the wind is favouring 18/38, use that runway for all operations.
    - If the wind is favouring 25/07, use 25L/07R for landings and 25R/07L for takeoffs.
So I increased the length of 25L/07R by 1 foot and closed the runway. Now FS is using 25L/07R for ALL landings and 25R/07L for ALL takeoffs. 18/36 is NEVER used, regardless of wind. What can I do???

    Regards,

Microsoft is cheap in that sense. I'm guessing the code was written to accept only 1 active runway (because then the ATC would be too "complicated"). Yes I know, it is annoying, but maybe in future versions that will be fixed. And to answer your 18/36 never being used, that's probably becuase you modified the runway, but i could be wrong.

Actually I didn't modify 18/36, all runways actually do have the same length. 18/36 hadn't been used before I closed 25R/07L. So my question could've been: Why does MS ALWAYS use one of the 25/07s, regardless of the wind and any modifications?

Because they are CHEAP in that ATC sense, and they only allow the sim to have 1 active runway, it's completly their choice.

Nonono don't you know you can have 2 active runways using AFCAD? If you close the longest runway, ATC will use the second longest for takeoffs and the longest for landings (despite the fact it's closed)!!!

But you can't have three... If you modify the runways right enough, though, the 18/36 will get used, but not with two others at the same time.

I wasn't trying to use three runways at the same time! I modified 7L/25R to be the longest and be closed, so it is always used for landings, which worked. And then I was trying to keep the other two at exactly the same length so the takeoff runway is chosed depending on wind direction. But for some reason, 7R/25L is always used for takeoffs...
