Could anyone tell me what exactly the select items 1 thru 4 located in the assignments setup are used for

I believe they are for things like engine controls, exits and VOR OBS if there are more than one. For instance [V] [2] , then [+] or [-] would adjust VOR2's OBS., [E] [2] would open exit 2.

Hi,

When you want to select engines individually (or in groups), you press the E key plus the number of the engine (i.e. E 1 selects engine one). The select item 1 controls which key is used for the second keystroke of that sequence. Same for COM1/COM2, NAV1/NAV2, etc. BTW, to select all 4 engines again you press E 1 2 3 4 in sequence.
