Does anyone know how to get the auto spoiler to work. I set it up before landing but it never deploys. Reverse thrust works fine.Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Joe/Andy,
In 2002, the throttles have to be completly closed, for Auto Spoilers to deploy on landing.
I think most that are having problems (including myself) are using a Joystick. The throttle control on joysticks, are not completly closing throttles.
Short term, or easy fix, is to press F1 Just Before touchdown.
Best fix, is to use FSUIPC, to calibrate joystick.
Hope this helps, let us know,
Randy Burton
In reality, it may not be the throttle control that is malfunctioning but noise in your computer system that registers a signal indicating that the throttle is a idle.
As the previous poster indicated, downloading and installing FSUIPC is the best way to calibrate your joystick to eliminate these type problems.

Auto spoilers will not function properly in FS2002 unless the throttles are in manual mode - FS2002 introduces separate functionality for the autothrottle and the autopilot - you can engage the autothrottle WITHOUT the autopilot so when flying the approach switch OFF the autothrottle (Shift + R) and then the spoilers should deploy when the aircraft touches down and you reduce the throttles to idle.
Correctly calibrating the throttle is also a very good idea.

Yup, Simon is correct. Hit shift-r to disengage the auto throttle and everything should be okey dokey.

The only way that I can get Auto Spoilers to work is to hit f1 after I cut the power all of the way back. Surely there is an easier way than having to hit F1 everytime I land.
