Angry MY NEW GIGABYTE 9800 gtx+ 1 Gb

I bought in january the NEW GIGABYTE 9800 gtx+ 1 Gb.

Lot of problems: (GPU bios issues)

14 pages of problems on this forum and yet no reaction from Gigabyte. SCANDALOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...c=84478&st=260

    1) Heavy problem at installation (black screen with any OS)
    2) Wrong Bios ( F11 ...F12)
    3) Gamer hud don't work (even with bios F10)
    4) The satisfaction Gigabyte team" don't help
    5) Some 3D games are not recognize by the card which turn in 2D mode (FSX)
    6) Overclocking impossible
    7) Ventilo worksalways in minimum (40%) or maximum (100% very noisy)
    8) Crash if you use last drivers
    9) It's appear in Eversest that the GPU gravure is always 65 and not 55 ( + )
    9) The result of all that, I replace the new Gigabyte 9800gtx+ by myold 7900GS which works faster.

Very strange, the card don't dtect FSX like a 3D game (it work in 2D mode at the half power)

How many watts is your PSU?

Until you get everything running correctly, I would take the CPU back to its stock speed.

POWER SUPPY: Sweex PS021 400 watt

Your PSU may not be adequate for your system. When I upgraded to my 8800GTX, I had some issues with my system in FSX with only a 400 watt power supply. I had to put the CPU back down to stock speed until I bought a 600 watt supply. Frame rates in FSX were in the single digits, the sound stuttered and it was basically unplayable. It was obvious that the increased power demand was the issue, because I too had a 7900GS that I swapped back in and it fixed the problem when my system was overlclocked.

I don't have any experience with Gigabyte video cards but I've had nothing but good experience with their system boards. You could have just gotten a lemon, or perhaps you are having power issues or other issues with your combo. I hope that gives you somewhere to start.

First, thank you very much Barty to put attention about my Gigabyte issues.
Of course, my power supply is at the lower limit.
If you'd experiment same issues with the 8800GTX, I think it can be a pad...
    I'll take that in consideration.
But there is anyway a very deep problem with that card and its bios.

At the moment, there are 15 pages (+/- 250 posts) about issues on this forum:

    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...c=84478&st=260

Most of the users have the adequate PSU (+/450W) and they encounter issues.
The only reaction of Gigabyte team is "sorry for the enconvenients".
They just placed yesterday a new bios F12 ( the original was F10 and there was also a F11 ) but seem not improve the solution.

I'll post here more information if something change...
    Thank you again
