Thread: Anyone having PSS Airbus Problems?

  1. Default Anyone having PSS Airbus Problems?

    Hi :)

How many of ya have the PSS Airbus Pro? Well, I have it, and the patch has left some issues which IMHO affect it quite significantly :(

The aircraft suffers terrible deep stalling which cannot be stopped by the "Alpha Protection". Some great flights end up descending @ 20,000ft/min because the alpha protection has fallen asleep! I use the autopilot (as instructed) at all times, and yet the craft will stall quite readily at low speeds. I know FS2002 has its limitations, but why should this aircraft be given such terrifying stalling behaviour? :-hmmm

Try this: Select an airspeed that is 20 Knots CLEAR of the indicated "danger zone". If the aircraft doesn't stall, try selecting a heading which causes the plane to bank significantly... you will stall! :-lol

I can't believe that I'm the only one!

Hmmm...if you are having problems, visit this forum....

    http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum...conf=DCConfID6

This is the PSS Forum...the developers hang out there, and so do the rest of the avid users.....and I don't really have the same problem you are....I guess be more careful, but the Stall problem is something that has been there since the release.

    :) I'll tell you why I asked:

The PSS forum locks threads in which people dare to say that the patch hasn't fixed the biggest problems i.e. GDI errors, alpha protection forgetfulness etc. I purchased their 'bus in the hope that it wouldn't tumble to the ground due to a stall in autoflight! The support forum moderators just close threads when people are POLITELY stating that they have remaining problems:

Here's one of the PSS classics (sounding all the world like W* A* S*:)): "Ours was built Specifically for FS2002 using FS2002 variables, processes and a total lack of SDK"... so why didn't they wait for a couple of months if they knew there were going to be problems? :-roll...

And who could forget the timeless, "We have already fixed Plenty of reported bugs and done as the User asked in most of the reported issues, just because there is a small minority of users who are still not satisfied will not lose us a lot of customers":-mad (Customers really warm to this attitude!... :-roll)

I wish I had purchased the Dreamfleet 734 :( At least you wouldn't fall to the ground like 50 tonnes of bricks! It's on my shopping list!

This is not a vitriolic attack, more of a venting session :D Dreamfleet must be the best payware company right now!

Ahhh...ok, I see your problem...I have not had the nasty stall problems most of the time as you are...but as you are using the autopilot, are you using the FMC to help out? Or are you plugging the numbers in yourself? I have only crashed 1 time during a real flight, I was turning final at KABQ, and for some reason, I stalled and augered in about 8 miles out....Use the FMC if you arent, and that should help you out a little bit, and yes, the stall characteristics are insane...but I love the program anyway.

Like you, I have had troubles with stalls. The Airbus is simply UNRECOVERABLE after a stall - turning off the alpha floor lock and pushing the nose down yourself does nothing. I find it happens at altitude if I've downloaded winds aloft. High altitude "wind shear" (like, that could really happen!) can wipe off enough airspeed to put you into a stall - followed by a 20K fpm descent - murphy's law being what it is, it usually happens at the end of a 5 hr flight!

I don't have any answers, just sympathy.

As for your bank angle stall - don't forget that in a level turn you'll pull g and stall speed=square root of 1+G x Vso. A 20 kt buffer above the stall might not be enough.

Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, just a thought!

    regards,

    Jeff

I'm going to leave this subject alone now. I'm banging my head against the wall, so I'll avoid such "circumstances" again ;) There's more to life than me complaining, and so I'll move on, and look at the great freeware available... I'll also check out the DF 737 soon, as I need a plane that won't stall like it has no wings!

    Good Day! :)

YES!! PSS don't like emails voicing the problems with their product. I put mine in a shelf... really... I wanted my money back, the product was not ready!.

But meanwhile, seat down... I discovered that when the plane is falling from the sky at 20,000 feet per second!!! with no hopes of getting out of this incredible stall, if you OPEN THE THROTTLE WINDOW the sucker stars flying again!!!! up and climbing and getting out of the stall!!!!!
incredible ahh! It worked for me... I have not posted this in PSS forum... for what?
    Let PSS find for themselves.

Looks like PSS (a subsidiary of Avsim :-lol) has really done it this time.

Even Lee H., who such is a great contributor with his helpful posts and numerous PIC/POSKY merges and the like, has gotten into it with, what's that guy's name??........ hmmm........
His nickname is Phoenix 1, he used to sign his name to posts......, oh well can't remember.

I made the mistake of buying the PSS777v2 right before FS2k2 came out after learning PSS was going to patch it. Oh well maybe by Fs2k4.

    Cheers,
    Go get 'em Lee ;-)

PS I'd really like to contribute to this thread over at the site. Unfortunately (or maybe not) I'm still persona non grata over there, so I figured ranting a bit here wouldn't be so bad.

    Sorry to hear this MD.
PSS is a proven excellent operation. My PSS 747-400
is still unmatched, in my opinion, by anything else.

Their airbus is leading-edge. I never buy leading-edge stuff, until many others have tried it & given their results.
Then I decide whether or not to buy.

It's fantasic to be on the leading edge, but it can be
    disappointing.

I'd leave it awhile. In time these things are usually cured.
    That's half the fun.
    Good luck.
