Thread: Must have places to visit in a RTW tour?

  1. Default Must have places to visit in a RTW tour?

Me and my trusty Navion are now 7 legs into a round the world flight, and since I am so far in, I can now really think "Where do I need to visit in Flight sim?" As this is a nice slow tour...

Right now I am in east africa, and moving north.

    Right now I have

    Victoria Falls
    Giza
    Niagara Falls
    Giblalter<sp>
    Washinton DC
    Paris
    Moscow
    Instanbul
    Petronas Towers
    San Fran
    KGEV (its my "home" airport)
    Las Vegas
    Salt Lake City

Just wondering what other places I might want to go, also the "award" ones like lowest, highest, and so on.
The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat.

The Parthenon in Greece, Mt Ararat in Turkey (in case the Ark is still on top...), Tempelhof (sadly now closed RW. Ideally you need to fly there in a DC3 for the full historical feel), Stonehenge, Panama, Casablanca (play it, Sam...), Ayers Rock, Lukla/Everest, Milford Sound NZ (really spectacular, especially if you have a good mesh), Sydney, Rio, Taj Mahal, Mont St Michel, Mt Rushmore...

If you want to include places that are really spectacular but Microsoft didn't bother with, there's Angel Falls in Venezuela, Iguazu Falls in Argentina/Brazil (like Niagara, but big), Machu Pichu, the Nazca lines, the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, Thebes, and just about anywhere else you've ever heard of

Don't forget Cairo and the Great parymids of egypt!!
I was impressed to see them in FS5!
Also, hit up Honolulu, but dont let them land you in the water...
    Lets see, hit Alaska
La Paz Boliva is the words Highest international airport, if I remember correcty..
so dont let the O2 masks dump when your outflow valve opens at touchdown

Make sure you hit ALL the continents...

No fair flying arround the world without crossing the equator at least twice!
Walking a circle arround the north geographical pole does not count as walking arround the world
But it doesn't sound like your doing that So your okay

Bella Coola and London City were two I enjoyed on a RTW flight.

Don't forget Antarctica. It's easy enough to get to from South America, but you'll need to fit ferry tanks to reach New Zealand.

  7. Default RTW Tour

London, Biggin Hill, North Weald and Duxford.

    Yes, this is a "Tour"

So far I have gone from Cape Town to Madagascar, then over the the rift valley, will finish looking around there, then head up the Nile. Then I think I will head into eastern Europe, hit Moscow, then head south towards the middle east, then across the gulf into India, then work my way down the Australia, then back up east asia, then cross the land bridge, down the west coast of the America's, and perhaps hit Antarctica on the way down, then head back up and do some island hopping in the Caribbean, up the east coast, then do the Newfoundland -> Greenland -> Iceland -> UK hop, visit eastern europe, then down the west coast of Africa to Capetown. At least that the plan for now.

  9. Default Pearl Harbour

Wouldn't it be great to install 1940 scenery for Pearl Harbour. Have AI Zero's flying around while you 'stumble' upon them in your Catalina or B17.

I wonder if the Tunguska landscape is added in FSX. I might try to find that out myself.

Btw moscow is pretty cool now that they built the new Business center in the south end on the river. It has a pretty unique skyline as all the skyscrapers aren't bunched int one 'downtown' section but spread out over dozens of square miles.

Also Saint Petersburg is amazingly beautiful at night (at least in real life) though I've never done a real flyby in FSX. Its too bad they can't make the bridges go up and down
