Thread: Flight Gear

  1. Default Flight Gear

Have not used it yet, but there been a lot of chicken littles on the fligh sim board, just as a example, this is a open source project with a ton of planes, and the screen shots look decent.

    just as a FYI
The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat.

Give us some screen shots. As I understand it there's the stock scenery that comes w/ the original download. then there's 13 gb's (?) of photorealistic scenery you can also download.

I believe you can change simulator engines.

Running it on linux or windows?

    Wink I tried it:

FlightGear isn't bad, it is slow as FSX. There's a new version, 1.9.0, it uses OpenSceneGraph, but I don't know how to use it.

    Graphics: B+
    Aircraft: A-
    Scenery: B+
    Weather: A
    Traffic: C+
    Performance: C-

Thanks for that review, in that case it might be my Linux Flight sim, as I never had much of a performace problem with FSX.

I tried using this program, but I dont understand the problem that I am having. I run an HP a1130n, not an incredibly super powerful computer, but its 64+3500 processor and ATi Radeon 200Xpress runs FS2004 pretty decently.

FlightGear only gets 4FPS and I have no idea as to why. Everything driver-wise is working right, but I can't get any improvement...Whats the deal, I like this open-source idea, but I can't get it work right.
