Default New build PC for FSX

Happy new year all, this year for me is the year i will build a PC for running FSX on multiple screens. Having read the forums i will need a good cpu hopefully an Intel i7 or quad core based system and an high end graphic card, SLi or multiple cards have no advantage in fps i beleive?

A few questions for the PC guru's

    1. Since i intend to have 3 screens (22 inch TFT x3) is triplehead2go the answer on an Nvidia 280? or should i have 2 graphics cards instead and lose the triplehead2go.

    2. Is there any advantage to having FSX loaded on to its own large internal SATA hard disc or in its own partition on C:/? Ultimate defrag is already on the shopping list.

I have stacks of VFR and airport upgrades hence the rebuild. I have just run a scenario on my current Athlon x2 64 based PC got 10fps on default and cranked it up to maximum settings to acheive a massive core melting 2 fps, i never knew i had so many fans inside!

Any advice would be appreciated and thanks in anticipation

For the absolute best hard drive solution it is said that FSX on its own Western Digital VelociRaptor really performs. I have pretty much set up my system per this post, which discusses the Raptor down towards the end of the post. I did not use the Raptor on my own system in order to save some money, but I can see how it would be the best solution. FSX on it own hard drive helps also but the main ingredient for FPS and image quality is at least 3 cores (read Intel Quad), as high a processor speed as you can achieve, quality RAM, low temps, and NHancer if using Nvidia graphics cards. As for defrag I personally use OO Defrag per this thread.

I'm sure some one will come along and advise you about multiple monitors.
