Thread: Saitek Pro Yoke + Throttle vs CH

  1. Default Saitek Pro Yoke + Throttle vs CH

I am looking at getting a yoke for my FSX install. I mainly fly the PMDG 747 and the R22 Heli.

I have been pondering over whether to go for a CH product or the Saitek Pro + Throttles.

Also I hear that CH eclipse is out now. How does this compare to the Saitek Pro?

If I go for the Saitek Pro, how do I control the rudder of my airplane as with my joystick I simply twist. How does this work for a helicopter rudder?

Do you have to have the pedals in order for it to work correctly?

    Thanks

Saitek is MUCH better than CH products. I have alot of experience in both, and I always used to be Ch man. Everything was CH, CH, CH, until I tried the new Saitek - it ROCKS! This yoke FEELS like somthing you'd find in a cockpit with it's nice sturdy construction.

The only downside I found on it, was that the clamp that is with it (not sure if that has changed or not - you might want to do some research on this - was too big for my keyboard drawer so I had to use industrial Velcro to slap it down. But anyway, here's the yoke on my desk with it attached that way - it works VERY VERY nicely....

This picture is my networked systems together - the gray dell is for my Flightsim Commander and my Silver is for the FSX, which gives GREAT performance.

The piece of wood on the desk underneath it was to hold the CH Yoke in because their clamps were too loose - guess you can't have everything perfect.

IMO Saitek is becoming the LEADER in products for the flightsim line.

well i don't have any or know what they are, but get the, throttles, yoke for plane, and joystick for helicopter because it wil be funny to fly a helicopter with a yoke, and rudders, rudders are the same in helicopters.

With the above poster - I do use an older joystick for that type of flying too! He's right! Also it helps when flying an Airbus, I usually put the stick off to the left since that's how the pilots do it in the real world when I was having a jet flying spree. It's so weird when you do it the way they do the first few times! .

That's the only thing I don't like about it - I need more room LOL! I have to reorganzie, which will probably be after computer class this year sometime...

Looking good for the Saitek Pro then.. Think I will be getting this..

Ok, so for helicopters I will stick with my joystick.

How do you control the rudder and taxi steering in the aircraft with the saitek yoke?

Thanks for your feedback so far.

It makes it easier with the Rudder Pedals, but you can also check Auto Rudder in the FS X control boxes. Breaking might be a little different with out any Toe Brakes, so I would check into using either a pair of existing rudder pedals IF you have one, or also invest in a Saitek Pair - their very egernomically friendly and nicely designed too....(nope - I don't work for Saitek... Just love their stuff!)

I am sure I will be investing in the pedals soon but for now can I make good use of the yoke until I get the pedals?

So do CH pedals compare to the saitek pedals?

    Thanks

I used both. In my opinion, though it may be my "build" I found the CH Pedals a little uncomforrable. You should be able to do fine with just the yoke, just select the Auto Rudder option in the Realism settings for FSX when you get it.

Otherwise, you'll be well on your way to a nice FS Desktop cockpit! The yoke also has the clock function where you can time your legs like the real pilots do as well with the stop clock timer, and also has a clock mode as well with it. You'll be impressed with it, I'm sure...

    Default CH vs. Saitek

Thanks guys for the info. I've been debating between the Saitek or CH products, and without actually putting a hand on either one it's difficult to decide which may be best for me personally.

I use the Thrustmaster HOTAS w/rudder for Falcon4AF, they are well built (metal), but they are in long-term storage in California, so I'm going to get either the Saitek or CH for FSX for while I'm here in Korea.

Just realized I'll still need something for Heli-ops, guess I'll also hold onto my MS sidewinder FF2, for helicopters.

Lastly, how do you like the Saitek throttle quadrent? I was thinking of buying the extra throttle for use in twins.
