Thread: Installing add on scenery/Need help please

  1. Default Installing add on scenery/Need help please

Need some help in adding on some add on scenery to FSX.

I have read and reread the help files and have followed their instructions, but, I am not getting them to show up in FSX.

I go to settings, Add new scenery (after I have copied the contents in the Add on Scenery folder, and have placed the scenery inside it's own folder, Example-Add on Scenery/St Pete then I put scenery into the scenery folder and do the same with textures.

However, after I attempt to add the scenery by navigating to where it is, I click on the St Pete folder, see the scenery and texture folders, but I cannot go any further. I can click on the scenery and texture folders but there is nothing inside them to click (yes, the files are there).

I am sure I am forgetting something simple, but have no clue what it is. I have looked in the help section of FS X to no avail.

I am running Vista 64x (not sure if that makes a differance).

make sure when adding scenery don't go too far

    -Addon scenery
----(scenery Name) <--- this is the one you want to highlight when adding scenery
    -------scenery <--- dont highlight this
    -------texture <--- or this...

    hope this helps

Are you running as Adminstrator? That, I am told, is critical. You may also need to turn off your UAC (User Account Control) by going to: Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts.

That will tell Vista that you indeed have "permission" to make changes.

When navigating to the location of your new scenery to add it to the library, you should stop at the St.Pete folder (assuming it has the required scenery and texture subfolder under it and there is at least one bgl in the scenery folder).

Hope these ideas are of some help.

    Those tips did indeed help

I was clicking in the wrong spot (sounds crazy). If I clicked on the title of the folder, it would open the folder, but if I clicked onto the "left" of the title (checkbox), it would work.

I finally got Tropicana Field back

Now to find the scenery that has the Sunshine Skyway bridge.

    Thanks!!!

I too am having this problem. Did it ever get solved or a workaround?
