    Default Outside plane view problems.

I've noticed that sometimes when flying from the outside view that you can't seem to zoom out nearly as much as you'd like. I think this seems to vary for some reason. Today when landing a large Boeing I wanted to replay my landing and I couldn't get a good view at all. It seemed the furthest I could zoom out in front of the plane put me just in front of the nose of the cockpit. Can this be adjusted?

Another thing I've noticed when outside the plane and trailing is the fact that the location of the view you're looking from has a tendency to float around instead of staying where you set it at. Kind of annoying at times.

I haven't flown FS9 for some time but I don't think I remember either of these issues.
Has anyone else noticed these issues?

During flight, hit "alt" to bring up the tool bar across the top of the screen, hit "view",on the drop down menu select view modes make sure you have "locked spot" ticked and that should solve the problem, hope this helps!

    Mitch,
Zoom is the magnification/field of view indicated in the upper right hand corner of the screen (briefly when you change it) Plus and minus key changes this by 10% below 100% and by 50-100% above full size.

What you are looking for is the increase/decrease Chase Distance function (out to 500 meters) and this is accomplished with the CTRL and plus/minus keys. You'd think they could have put that in the Learning Center instead of hiding it in the Settings-Controls-Keys where you will find it if you search...

Locked Spot is my outside view of choice (That's where I spend 95% of my time) so I attached the "hotkey 2" to this camera in the Cameras.cfg so I didn't have to worry about S and A keys or view menus.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to check both out next time out.

I noticed the last time I flew (The Amazon mission) that when I was in the cockpit view and would hit the minus key that it would change the outside view but not the actual cockpit. I'm sure it was just a weird glitch and probably won't do it again next boot.

    Lloyd, good information to know.
    Thanks again,
    Mitch

Zoom in the 2D ONLY affects the outside view... the 2D panel has never (to the best of my recollection - since FS4) been subject to zoom-in/zoom-out. The VC cockpit, on the other hand, is affected just like the outside view.

i can solve the second one where the spot you choose for the view you choose does not stay the same, use the locked spot view f10.

As I suspected with a clean boot I got the dash to zoom with the outside again. I can't believe I've been flying this long with the rear view floating around not knowing there was a way to lock it down. Duh!!!

    Thanks again all,
