Thread: Ultimate Terrian X question

  1. Default Ultimate Terrian X question

I am thinking about getting this and was wondering how big a hit will I take on framerates?

I can get about 50fps or so flying around Jacksonville, Fl., and the rest of the Sunshine State, with the sliders a tad above medium.

    Vista 64bit
    6 gigs of RAM
    2.67 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6700
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

The 'hit' is realative to the level of 'eye candy' you wish to incorporate.

I probably only flew FSX a couple of times before installing UTX (a 'must have' in my book), thus, I really cannot compare before and after performance hit.

The UTX set-up tool is very good at letting you know just which features will give the biggest hit and which ones won't effect fps. I turn off minor urban streets because they're a big hit and I think it looks better without them. It's definitely a must-have add-on for FSX.

With a default install you will probably not experience any FPS loss. Now if you go into the settings and turn on more features you probably will. The config settings once installed are very flexible and as Jim said it even gives you an estimate on the FPS impact before you apply the settings you have chosen.

I like this product but have it dis-abled at this time - I can't seem to find the right mix of settings to have no impact on performance. With GEX as great as it is - I now deal with the default road and coastal settings. I tend to fly around large cities and I'd rather have a smooth sim experience than a choppy one. (( IMHO ))

    Hi!
About that I have a doubt: I have already a add-on for WEST GERMANY and Austria from another publisher; if I install ULTIMATE TERRAIN X EUROPE, I don´t will have problems? Must I uninstall the previous add on? Can I have 2 add-on for the same regions?

    Thanks

Well, there was a slight hit in the framerate, but then I disabled the traffic lights at night and now things are looking a lot better.

I am a touch disappointed, I thought the Sunshine Skyway bridge would be a lot better. And I could not find Tropicana Field in St. Pete. I did find the stadiums for the Bucs and Jaguars though

If the objects were present in FSX, then you will find them repositioned (properly) in UTX. But UTX will not add in any new objects to speak of. I seemed to recall a Sunshine Skyway in or for FS9 and it might be worth a try to see if it worked in FSX. Same for the Trop, if a similar object exists in FSX it can always be "duplicated" elsewhere.
