    Default Re-aligning the IRU

Wilco 737-500, when trying to re-align the IRU, all I get is flashing lights and it never re-sets. Ive tried both the quick alignment and the regular alignment. This is the procedure Ive used:
quick alignment.... turning IRU to ALIGN momentarialy then back to Nav. This is suppose to do a quick alignment.
REG ALIGNMENT...since the quick alignment wont work, Ive tried this....Turn to OFF momentarily then back NAV.This is suppose to give a complete re-alignment but in both cases, all I get are the flashing alignment lights....and it goes for hours without aligning. Does anyone have any other ideas to try to align this? thanks

After doing what you have done, have you also entered in the lat and long position? This usually needs to be entered for each alignment.

Aviation is not inherently dangerous but it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessnes, incapacity or neglect.

as ant has stated you need to give lat/lon using the FMC (or on the overhead using the IRS sub-panel).

also - the aircraft MUST be sitting still, and better for the engines to be off.

you can adjust the alignment time using the configurator tool (must do this for each classic).

Using the correct procedures for alignment should not make it necessary to manually enter longittue and latitude . The purpose of the auto alignment is just that. After speaking to Mike Ray, author of the book, he gave me some suggestions and we got around it in an uncanny manner, but there is still a "bug" in the system ( at least my system ) .I thought that someone might have had the same experience. Thanks for the help anyway.
