Thread: FSX Disc problem

  1. Default FSX Disc problem

I successfully installed FSX once before I had my PC rebuilt/upgraded.
I am now trying to reinstal but when disc 1 starts I get the following message
"This patch package could not be opened.Verify that the patch package exists that you can access it, or contactthe application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package
    D;\MicrosoftFlight Simulator X.msi"
Does this mean that my disc is corrupted and I have to purchase a new set.
D: drive is my CD/DVD drive and all of my software is lrgal.
FS9 is running very well. I am running XP Pro
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    Hi,

Disable Nero burning software if that is present.

Make sure your firmware is up to date for your DVD drive.
    Thanks,

    Jim

You can also try copying all the files from the DVD's onto your hard drive and then install from your hard drive.

    Thanks Jim
I do not use Nero but did make sure that drivers updated - still no luck. Somehow I think that the disc has been corrupted

I had this same problem after a system restore.

Go to microsoft and download msicuu2.exe (very small)

It looked like a Office program, but don't worry. Install it. Run it. Find Microsoft Flight Simulator in the list. Remove it. Bingo.

You still have remnants of the previous install on your computer, this program removes them.
