Default FS2002 proa and Wind 2000 pro

I am thinking of upgrading Windows 98 SE to Windows2000. More because of stability. I don't want XP, because I am not interested in registering stuff. (I have all OS legal.)

Are there things I have to take care of? I often fly online via the VATSIM network, and use Squawkbox, Rogerwilco. Or just stay with 98SE?

    Greetings,

I would say, stay with Win98SE. Why go to the expense of updating to Win2000, which is on Mircosoft's back burner for support. Win98SE is quite stable, has plenty of drivers for most peripherals, and a large base.

If I hadn't bought two new computers, I would have stayed with Win98SE. WinXP SE is probably around the corner according to Capt'n Slarty! Microsoft is going to continue developing WinXP and then a newer OS after the legal cases are over.

    going from 98SE to 2k

With proper tweaks you will only loose a few frames per sec.

2k is solid as a rock with service pack 2 with less overhead then XP.

If you play mostly online you will get much better internet codeing going to 2k over 98. There are times I can cut my pings and downloads in half by booting to an NT based OS insted of 98SE.

I run 98SE for my sim and XP for downlaoding, online games, and apps but I will soon be trashing XP in favor of 2K again now that the new toys have lost there "wow" I miss 2k.
